Orange/Black delivers the same certified hi-vis performance as our Orange/Navy colourway, with a sharper black trim for crews who want a more contrast-heavy, understated look on site.
It's a strong choice for road maintenance, civil engineering, and general construction where orange is the preferred or mandated colour but a black trim reads cleaner than navy against overalls and PPE.
One of four colourways in our full hi-vis hoodies range — same fleece, same build quality, different colour for different roles on site.
The outer layer is soft polyester fleece with a brushed interior that holds warmth through a full shift without making you sweat the moment you start moving. This is a pullover design with a short zip neck placket — it stays on through the job, not abandoned on the dashcam shelf. The adjustable drawstring hood seals out wind when the temperature drops, and elasticated cuffs lock warmth in at the wrist. Multiple front pockets keep your phone, site pass, and small tools exactly where they need to be.
The fit is close enough to work under a waterproof outer shell on the worst days, and flexible enough that you're not restricted when you're digging, lifting, or working a barrier line.
Orange hi-vis gets the initial attention. The reflective tape keeps you visible when the light drops. Bands of tape run around the chest and waist, and down both sleeves, so HGV drivers, plant operators, and passing traffic have a clear sightline from every angle — not just when you're facing forward.
The Hoodie 8 is also available in Yellow/Black, Yellow/Navy, and Orange/Navy — same hoodie, different colour for different roles on site.
Machine washable at 30°C. Do not tumble dry on high heat — this protects the reflective tape and keeps it performing at full brightness for longer. Avoid fabric softener, which can dull reflective performance.
What size should I order? Check the size chart image on this page against your chest measurement — this hoodie has a regular fit designed to layer under a waterproof shell if needed.
Is this hoodie certified hi-vis? Yes — all four colourways of the Hoodie 8 use a hi-vis yellow or orange base with 360° reflective tape.
A hi-vis vest gives you visibility and nothing else — no warmth, no wind protection, and it does little for you once the temperature drops. A hard-shell hi-vis jacket gives you weatherproofing but is often too warm and bulky for anything except standing-still roles. A hi vis hoodie sits in between: certified reflective visibility built into a soft-touch fleece that traps body heat without trapping sweat, so it works as a standalone mid-layer on cool days and under a waterproof shell on wet ones.
The full front zip and adjustable hood are the practical difference. They let you regulate heat on the move — zip up on a cold morning start, strip back once you're moving freight or working under load — without removing a layer entirely and losing your visibility rating mid-shift.
Yellow/Navy or Yellow/Black fleece hoodie. Full 360° reflective tape across chest, back and sleeves for standard site compliance.
Orange/Navy or Orange/Black. Orange is the specified colourway for traffic-adjacent environments on most UK sites.
Fleece hoodie as a mid-layer under a waterproof shell through autumn and winter; worn alone as the outer layer in spring and early autumn.
Any colourway works indoors — pick by team/site colour coding. Multiple secure pockets keep scanners and small tools to hand during picking and loading.
Class 2 or Class 3? Confirm the certified class of your specific hoodie SKU before relying on it for compliance — check the garment label. Where a hoodie is not independently Class 3 certified, pairing it with certified hi-vis trousers can achieve full 360-degree visibility. Read the full class comparison guide.
On a fleece hoodie, the reflective tape and the zip are the first points of failure — heat and abrasion from tumble drying degrade the tape's reflectivity, and repeated snagging weakens the zip pull. Machine wash cold, inside out, with similar colours, and avoid ironing directly over the reflective tape. Tumble dry low or line dry to preserve both colour and reflectivity. Avoid fabric softener — it coats the fleece fibres and reduces the fluorescent brightness over time. Full care detail in the washing guide.
A hoodie handles the top half and cold-weather layering. Here is what pairs with it for complete site compliance.
