Kids Hi-Vis Hoodies — Frequently Asked Questions
What ages do your kids' hi-vis hoodies fit?
Our 1006 Kids Hi-Vis Fleece Pullover Hoodie is available in sizes for ages 7–8, 9–10, 11–12 and 13 years. The garment is proportioned specifically for children in this age range — not scaled down from an adult pattern — so the reflective tape and fluorescent fabric sit in the correct positions for the wearer's actual body size.
What colours are available?
Our kids' hi-vis hoodies are available in yellow/black, orange/black, pink/black, blue/black, green/black and purple/black. Yellow and orange are the standard high-visibility colours for construction, farm and outdoor safety environments. Pink, blue, green and purple are ideal for identifying children separately from adult workers on site — and are considerably easier to get children to wear without complaint.
Are your kids' hi-vis hoodies machine washable?
Yes. Machine wash at 40°C on a normal cycle. Do not tumble dry — heat degrades reflective tape adhesion and the fluorescent properties of the fabric. Line dry only. Avoid fabric softener, which reduces the performance of the polyester fleece over time. Full guidance in the hi-vis clothing care guide.
Are kids' hi-vis hoodies suitable for farm work?
Yes — farm and agricultural environments are one of the primary use cases for kids' hi-vis workwear. Children helping with livestock, outdoor tasks or machinery-adjacent work on farms need to be visible to tractor and vehicle operators at all times. A colour that distinguishes children from adult workers — green, purple, blue or pink — makes it immediately clear to anyone operating machinery that a child is in the area.
What is the difference between kids' hi-vis hoodies and adult hi-vis hoodies?
The key difference is sizing and proportioning. Our kids' 1006 hoodie is cut to fit ages 7–13, with reflective tape and fluorescent fabric positioned for a child's body shape. Adult hi-vis hoodies in even the smallest sizes are proportioned for adult bodies — on a child, the tape shifts out of position and the garment stops functioning correctly as high-visibility clothing. Always use properly sized children's garments for young wearers. Browse our adult hi-vis hoodies for grown-up crew members.
Can I order kids' and adult hi-vis in the same order?
Yes — kids' and adult hi-vis products can be added to the same cart and checked out in a single order. Free UK delivery applies to orders over £50 across the whole basket. For larger orders across multiple sizes and colourways for a mixed-age team, get in touch and we will confirm stock before you order.
Why do kids' hi-vis hoodies come in pink, blue and purple?
Three reasons. First, on mixed-age sites, a distinctly different colour from the adults' yellow and orange immediately identifies a child to vehicle operators and supervisors — which adds a layer of practical safety beyond the reflective tape alone. Second, on larger sites where yellow and orange are used to colour-code different roles, a separate colour for children avoids confusion. Third, and most practically: children are much more likely to keep a hi-vis on if they actually like the colour. A garment that stays on does its job; one that gets pulled off the moment no one is looking does not.
How do I know when to replace a child's hi-vis hoodie?
Replace the garment when the fluorescent fabric has visibly faded — it should be bright, not washed-out — or when the reflective tape begins to peel, crack or lose its reflective sheen. Children's garments often see heavier daily wear than adults', so check regularly. A faded or damaged hi-vis garment is no longer providing the visibility it was designed for and should be replaced rather than continued in use.
